PERSONAL FAITH

Lastly, if religion is a grand scheme of some men centuries ago, what were they going to benefit from? I do not understand what people like Moses, Jesus, Muhammad, and Buddha had to gain by risking their lives to preach something hollow and baseless (if that is what it is).

Aside from that, what I believe in is not in line with a good portion of the orthodoxy, at least the one present in the Indian Subcontinent. My siblings and I became disillusioned with the practices of Muslims clerics in Bangladesh at an early age. I am still frustrated about how ignorant some are about the actual tradition of Islam passed down from Prophet Muhammad.

Many so called "Mullas" have become a subject of ridicule among many Bengali's, because they are not blameless in bringing misery to people. They find it effective to scare people into accepting dogma. Worse, they make what can be a very simple religion in practice, into something complicated and out of reach of people. Hell is envisioned in everyone's head, and the slights error can land a person in permanent damnation. Saint worship is commonplace in today's Bangladesh, while it is condemned in Muhammad's practices. Shirk, or association of other things with God is commonplace as well, yet this is one of the gravest sins in Islam which is utterly monotheistic.

You do not have to agree with me, but I would like to hear your side. Drop me a line
